FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Men of Iron

Q- What is Men of Iron?

A- Men of Iron is a mentoring and discipleship ministry for young men and seasoned men of the church. It is themed around the lore and traditions of the European medieval knight and based within the local church. Men of Iron has three goals: Fellowship, Discipleship, and Evangelism. These three goals are realized through the mission of Men of Iron that is best summed up in Proverbs 27:17, “As Iron sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another”. The overall vision of Men of Iron is to connect young men with solid men of faith who will serve as mentors during a time of their lives where many leave the faith and drift away from the Lord. More about who we are can be found on the About Us page on this website.

Q- What is a Household?

A- A household is the most basic unit of Men of Iron. When a church has built up three active members, they may establish a household at their local church with the support and approval of their pastor. Each household has a leadership team comprised of a Head of the Household, Chaplain, Marshall, Herald, and Clerk. Each household develops their own coat of arms, name and colors to identify themselves. More can be found about households Here

Q- Do I have to be a member of a Household to be a member of Men of Iron?

A- No. You do not need to be a member of a Household to be a member of Men of Iron. While most organizations require the organizational group to be established first, Men of Iron builds the members first then households are built from the group.

Q- There is a household near where I live but I attend a different church that has no household. Can I be a part of that household?

A- Yes. The first step is to become an official member of Men of Iron. Then you will need to contact the head of the household and introduce yourself. He must be the first contact. Since you are a member, he will know that you have a background check completed and that your pastor has signed off on your membership. Once that is done and you are known to him, the head of household will give you all the details concerning his household. What will not happen is any type of proselytization or an attempt to pull you from your church to attend another. The purpose of inviting those who don’t have a household is to help them build a group of members from their church to establish their own household in their church. This builds brotherhood and friendships across the barony and the realm.

Q- Is Men of Iron associated with a denomination?

A- No. Men of Iron is an interdenominational ministry that is not associated with any one denomination.

Q- What churches can establish a Household?

A- There is no complete list of churches that can establish a Household. A list of churches that do meet our requirements can be found here. To churches that are not on that list, any church that meets these basic requirements may sponsor a household:

  • Believe that the Scriptures are the Inspired Word of God, given through inspiration of the Holy Spirit to men for the edification and training of believers and the church.
  • Believe that there is only one true God in three distinct persons: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • Believe that Jesus is the Son of the Most High God who came to earth as a man, gave up his life for the salvation of mankind, was resurrected from death and now is alive and sitting at the right hand of the Father.
  • Believe that men were created for fellowship with the Father but because of sin and disobedience we are fallen and can only be brought to salvation and the forgiveness of sin that comes from the blood of Jesus sacrifice on the cross.
  • Believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation and is the soon coming King and Lord of all creation.

Approved Denominations/Fellowships

Q- How can my church start a Household?

A- A church who agrees to the doctrinal position of Men of Iron and wishes to establish a new household must have three active members to establish the household. Request the Household Manual from Men of Iron by emailing menofironknights@gmail.com This document will outline all of the requirements and process to establish an official Men of Iron household. Once approved, your household will be added to the Men of Iron Household locator on this website.

Q- How do I become a Knight?

A- The process of becoming a knight begins by becoming a member of Men of Iron. After becoming a member, you can begin working through the Men of Iron workbooks for becoming a Page, Squire and then a Knight. These three workbooks outline all of the requirements and provide all of the information needed to advance through the levels to reach the level of a Knight. Once that level is reached a member may choose to remain at that level, or he may continue on and become a Peer within the ranks of Men of Iron. A Peer is anyone within Men of Iron that wears a coronet (crown). While there are many coronets that can be granted by position (Baron, Viscount, Earl, Duke, Archduke, Prince) There are only two peerage titles that can be earned- Knight Baronet and Guildmaster. To reach the Guildmaster level you must first become a Knight Baronet. No matter the title, to be a Peer you must be a Knight.
