To achieve Knighthood in Men of Iron is a great milestone in the life of a member.
Knights were the warrior class of the Middle Ages. It was their devoted service to the sovereign of the land that kept peace and security in the kingdom. When it was time to go to war, it was the knights of the kingdom that were called upon to defend the realm.
The greatest knights were those who thought of the people of the land first before their own personal desires. These knights exemplified the code of chivalry in a time and place it would have been easy to abuse their authority. They were servant warriors to the people of the realm and to their king.
The theme for the level of Knight is The Prayer Warrior. This is not just about learning the martial skills of a sword and shield, but also about becoming a prayer warrior who knows how to devote himself to prayer and enter into spiritual warfare against the kingdom of darkness.

The Knights Workbook will guide the Squire through the steps of becoming a knight with his mentor as he learns the ideals of knighthood and how they apply to his life, about the historical knight and biblical examples of knighthood.
The Knights Workbook will develop men through these topics:
- The Knight
- The Knights Example- William Marshal, The Perfect Knight
- The Prayer Warriors Example- The Prophet Daniel
- Becoming a Prayer Warrior
- Physical and Spiritual Armor
- Choosing a Knightly Name
- Developing your own Coat of Arms
- The Knights Ordeal preparation
- Looking Forward
The Knights Ordeal and Vigil
The Knights workbook will prepare a Squire for the Knights Ordeal. The ordeal consists of three tasks that must be completed. The first of these tasks is for the candidate for knighthood to complete 40 days of prayer and devotion with his mentor just prior to the vigil. This will prepare his heart and mind for an experience that he will never forget for the rest of his days. The second task is to begin and end the vigil with a lighted candle. The third task is to complete the vigil and remain alert and awake throughout the night.
Conducted by the local Baron, The Knights Ordeal is a spiritual milestone in the life of a Squire. During this time the Squire is challenged to examine himself, his relationship to our Lord and to greater service to the King.
The candidate will be led by his mentor through a night of prayer and reflection during an all night vigil. During this time he will be challenged to a deeper commitment to the Lord and to forge into a warrior for the King.
After completing the ordeal, he will be officially knighted and will be able to wear his own personal coat of arms for the first time publicly. It is during this knighting ceremony he will officially be dubbed and may then use “Sir” with his chosen knightly name. He will also be awarded his spurs, the outward symbol of knighthood.
Following his ceremony, the new knight will be presented the Knights Certificate and the Knight award pin for his Belt Banner.
