Every knight must take up a quest of his own.
The knight-errant was a knight that would wander in search of adventure, to prove his chivalry, virtue and display devotion to his lord. There are may stories of these quests from antiquity such as the legendary knights of king Arthurs Round Table seeking for the holy grail. For members of Men of Iron their quest will be the Quest for the Cross.
What is this Quest for the Cross? This is an adventure event that will test the wits and skill of every man that participates. A series of knightly tests that will bring the best out of each member. The result? At the end of the event you will have earned your own quest cross to wear with your knightly garb.
You will know who has taken up the quest by the cross that they wear. This small wooden cross is worn tied to the belt on the right side. Each member may decorate their cross to their own personal tastes, but to be worn it must be earned.
The completion of a quest is also a requirement to become a Page.
A quest is scheduled when there is a need for the event to be held. It is conducted by the local Baron and his staff at least once per year. Additional quests can be scheduled if the need arises.
How does it work?
You must first be a member of Men of Iron to participate. Find membership information here- Membership Information
Each person that wishes to take up a quest must submit a quest application to attend. After the herald has received the application he will respond with a letter providing further information and instructions about the date, time and location. Find more information about dates and locations of future Quests by visiting our Events Page
In preparation for the quest, each participant is required to make his own Quest Sword. This simple wooden sword will be used by the participant as a part of the quest and so they must arrive with it. a detailed guide on how to make a Quest Sword can be found on the Plans and Patterns page.
The quest is a walking event held at night so each participant must be able to safely move along a trail or road at night in low lighting conditions (firelight). During the event the quest participants will face a series of challenges that must be overcome in order to complete the event and acquire their cross. These are mental and physical challenges that will require team work and determination. One person alone cannot complete the quest. Just as the body of Christ needs one another as we make our way through life, quest participants must work together with their questing party to complete each task.
Are you ready for an adventure unlike any you have ever experienced? Join us on your own Quest for the Cross.
